On hot days, leaving a child in a parked car can quickly prove fatal. Police are therefore always on the lookout for dangers.
Police officer Jason Short of Keene, New Hampshire, rushed to a Walmart parking lot after a baby was left alone in a car. When he spotted tiny feet wrapped in a blanket, Jason smashed the window to rescue the seemingly lifeless baby.

He immediately began CPR as a crowd gathered—until he realized something was wrong. The “baby” was actually a lifelike doll worth $2,000 belonging to Carolynne Seiffer. She uses the realistic figures to cope with the loss of her son.
Although he was embarrassed, Officer Short said he had no regrets. “I would do it again,” he said. The police later covered the $300 to repair Carolynne’s windshield.
Police are now advising doll owners to either carry their dolls with them or keep them out of sight to avoid similar mix-ups.
