A baggage handler explains why it’s not a good idea to attach a strap to your luggage

Many travelers attach straps or ties to their luggage to make it easier to identify. However, one baggage handler warns that this can cause problems.

John, an experienced baggage handler at Dublin Airport, explains that loose straps can interfere with automatic baggage scanners. If a bag can’t be scanned properly, it may need to be processed manually, which can lead to delays or even lost luggage.

He also advises against packing marzipan, as its density is reminiscent of explosives and can trigger security checks, causing further delays.

Instead of straps, opt for a colorful suitcase or personalize it with stickers or paint. This way, you can easily find your luggage without risking travel disruptions.
