A couple found an old safe in their house and called the police immediately after opening it

New York couple Matthew and Maria Colonna-Emanuel made a surprising discovery in their backyard: A fire had exposed a hidden metal box. At first, they thought it was an old utility box, but their curiosity grew when a deer repeatedly wandered nearby.

After attempting to open the rusted container, they discovered a treasure: jewelry, gold, and cash—although the money was damaged by moisture. Among the valuables was a note with a nearby address that led them to their neighbor, who had been robbed in 2011.

Without hesitation, the couple returned everything. Although the items were worth $52,000, their true reward, they said, was the joy of having done the right thing.
