On my first day at my new job, I dressed comfortably in a sweater and slacks, just like I used to at my old job. I never wear bras because I find them uncomfortable and unnecessary.
During my shift, two people I didn’t know approached me and said I was dressed inappropriately because I wasn’t wearing a bra. But, I was wearing a loose sweatshirt, so nothing was showing. One person complained that they could see the outline of my chest. I have big boobs, but I didn’t think my outfit was a big deal.
The next day, I wore a T-shirt and a jacket, still no bra. But, two more people made the same comments, including my supervisor’s secretary, which made me worried.
I tried to defend myself by saying there’s no official dress code and people should be able to wear what they want. But she said there’s still an unspoken rule about how we should dress. My chest shape was brought up again.
I’ve gone without a bra for the past two years at work, wearing sweaters, T-shirts, or blouses with a jacket. Even though I have big breasts, I don’t see them as inappropriate.
