Cardinal bird visits family after grandmother said she would send one as a sign after she died

A heartwarming video capturing a Cardinal bird’s visit to a grieving family has been dubbed a “miracle”, especially as it fulfilled a promise made by their late grandmother before her passing.

Angela Abbott Patteson shared the touching video, which documents the family’s emotional reaction to the bird’s extraordinary visit. In the video, a vibrant red cardinal perches on a woman’s shoulder and steadfastly refuses to depart, even when gently shooed away.

Patteson uploaded the video to Facebook, providing some context for the powerful symbolism behind the bird’s presence:

“This is amazing, so as many know, my husband’s grandmother, Dorothy Booth, passed away two weeks ago (at the age of 97)”.

“For the past few years, my mother-in-law, Debbie, and her sister, Jeanne, had conversations with Grandma and, on several occasions, asked her to send them a sign once she had reached heaven. They specifically requested that a cardinal be involved.”

“Aunt Jeanne also prayed that the Lord would orchestrate it in a way that they could never have imagined. Well, God answered that prayer yesterday, the day after Grandma’s memorial service, and hours after they had been discussing that very prayer while playing Grandma’s favorite card game, ‘Canasta’!”

“They heard something at the kitchen window, and my father-in-law, Brian, went to investigate. A cardinal was there, and he managed to bring it inside. For 10 minutes, they held and petted the bird, and then they decided to release it outside. The following is a short video clip of this incredible experience and what unfolds next! (The bird flew away 10 minutes later.) You must watch!”

Since sharing the video, it has garnered millions of views, and the family has been deeply moved by the outpouring of positive responses to their “cardinal miracle”. Patteson expressed her gratitude, saying: “How awesome that this incredible story has touched so many and gone viral!”

Indeed, the story is a poignant reminder of the profound and mysterious connections that bind us to all living beings, reaffirming the beauty of our shared existence.
