Four old retired men are walking down the street

As four elderly gentlemen meandered through the streets of Cooktown, they stumbled upon a sign that beckoned with promise: “Old Timer’s Bar, all drinks are 10 cents.” Skeptical yet intrigued, they exchanged glances before cautiously entering, expecting a catch.

Inside, they were greeted by an ancient bartender whose voice resonated through the room as he welcomed them. “Come on in and I’ll pour one for you! What will it be, gentlemen?”

Surveying the fully stocked bar, each man opted for a martini. To their delight, the bartender swiftly served up four impeccably crafted martinis, chilled and shaken to perfection. “That’ll be 10 cents each, please”, he announced with a grin.

Baffled by their extraordinary luck, the men paid and indulged in their drinks before promptly ordering another round. Once again, they marveled at the quality of the martinis and the unbelievably low price.

Their curiosity piqued, one of the men finally mustered the courage to inquire: “How can you afford to serve such excellent martinis for only 10 cents each?”

The bartender chuckled, revealing his surprising backstory. “I’m a retired tailor from Sydney”, he explained. “After winning $25 million in the lottery last year, I fulfilled my dream of owning a bar. Everything here is priced at 10 cents, regardless of the drink.”

Amazed by the bartender’s tale, the men savored their martinis, observing a group of seven individuals at the end of the bar who remained empty-handed. Curious, one of the men asked about them.

“Oh, they’re just waiting for happy hour”, the bartender replied with a wink. “That’s when drinks are half price!”
