Long admired for her beauty and talent, Angelina Jolie has inspired countless fans—including Sahar Tabar, a young Iranian woman who rose to viral fame by attempting to resemble the Hollywood star. Tabar’s initial attempt at a Jolie-inspired transformation soon earned her the online nickname “Zombie Angelina” due to her extreme cosmetic changes and extensive photo editing.
Her bizarre online presence attracted worldwide attention but also attracted the attention of Iranian authorities. In 2019, Tabar was arrested on charges including blasphemy and degrading minors. She was sentenced to ten years in prison but was released after just over a year in prison.
Following her release, Tabar clarified that many of her viral photos had been heavily altered. She admitted to having undergone plastic surgery but emphasized that her extreme appearance was largely due to digital editing. After a brief period of media attention, Tabar has since disappeared from social media and appears to have stepped back from her pursuit of fame.
