Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently honored her cherished friend Oli Juste on the platform of Mayhew, an esteemed animal welfare organization.
Tragically, on January 15, 2022, Oli passed away, leaving behind a legacy of passion for animal welfare. It was Oli who introduced Meghan to the invaluable work of Mayhew, an organization she embraced as a royal patron alongside Prince Harry in 2019.
Despite the conclusion of her formal association with the charity earlier this year, Meghan affirmed her ongoing commitment to supporting Mayhew’s mission of aiding animals in need.
Oli Juste was renowned as one of Britain’s foremost dog trainers and animal behavior experts. His expertise garnered widespread recognition through appearances on Channel 4’s Puppy School and his own podcast, “A Dog’s Best Friend”, where he shared insights with fellow enthusiasts dedicated to enhancing the lives of our beloved four-legged companions.
Though Oli’s passing occurred several months ago, the news reached many only recently, following Meghan’s poignant tribute.
Reflecting on their shared concern for animals, Meghan fondly recalled the ongoing discussions she and Oli had about the evolving challenges and opportunities in animal welfare. She emphasized Mayhew’s continued efforts, urging others to witness the organization’s remarkable endeavors.
In honor of Oli’s memory, Mayhew will establish the Oli Juste Wing, providing temporary shelter for animals facing difficulties in securing permanent homes.
“Because they are cherished eternally, much like Oli himself”, Meghan remarked.
The outpouring of condolences from those who knew Oli personally or through his work flooded social media platforms like Instagram. Fond memories and expressions of admiration for Oli’s kindness and wit filled the comments, highlighting the impact he had on countless lives.
Beyond their professional collaboration, Meghan and Oli shared a deep bond of friendship.
Rest in peace, Oli.
