Nicholas McDonald receives a standing ovation for his version of Christina Perry on “The X Factor”

At just 16 years old, Nicholas McDonald from Bellshill, Scotland, was at the start of an impressive music career, even if he may not have known it at the time. When he took the stage on “The X Factor” in 2013, his nerves were obvious, but he put all his passion into his performance.

Nicholas had the unwavering support of his family, who watched with pride and tears from the sidelines as he delivered his heartfelt audition, making it a deeply emotional experience.

This was not Nicholas’ first encounter with the judges. Earlier in the same series he had auditioned with Secret Garden’s classic “You Raise Me Up”. The jury had suggested that he needed to prepare better for the demands of the competition. Driven by a desire to impress and a period of additional practice, Nicholas returned with a performance of a Christina Perri hit, eager to demonstrate his true potential.
