The relationship between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, once one of the world’s most talked-about couples, has deteriorated into a state of open hostility.
Since their divorce in 2019, the couple known as “Brangelina” have been embroiled in ongoing legal battles and public disagreements, as well as a number of serious allegations against each other.
In April, Jolie filed court documents in Los Angeles Superior Court claiming that Pitt physically abused her, an allegation he has strongly denied. The former couple are also embroiled in a heated dispute over the sale of a French vineyard they acquired during their marriage.
In a notable development, reports have emerged that Vivienne, one of their daughters, has decided to drop “Pitt” from her last name. Now, it seems that her sister Shiloh is following suit and taking steps to make this change official.
According to TMZ, Shiloh celebrated her 18th birthday by filing for a name change to Shiloh Jolie. The timing of her filing the paperwork on her 18th birthday suggests this was one of her first actions as an adult.
The name change is still pending, but it seems likely that it will go through. Shiloh is one of Jolie and Pitt’s six children, and she is not the only one whose relationship with her father is strained.
Recently, Vivienne made headlines when her name appeared in the official theatre programme for the production of The Outsiders , which she helped her mother produce, and was listed only as Vivienne Jolie. Zahara, 19, has also reportedly started using the name Zahara Jolie, and her eldest brother, 22-year-old Maddox, has also dropped “Pitt” from his name.
While Shiloh is the only child to have officially requested a name change, the general trend among the siblings suggests a unified stance in support of their mother in the face of ongoing tensions with their father.
In 2020, her brother Pax even expressed his disdain for Pitt on Instagram, saying: “You have made the lives of the people closest to me a constant living hell”.
