Wynonna Judd is reaching out to fans after many expressed concern about her health in the comments on Wednesday night.
The 60-year-old singer shared the stage with 38-year-old Jelly Roll to kick off the CMA Awards, performing his song “Need a Favor”. During the opening act, Judd was seen holding onto Jelly Roll for support, which led to a flurry of worried comments from fans.
After the show, Judd took to social media to directly address her supporters’ worries, posting a video with the caption: “Don’t read the comments”. In the brief clip, Judd candidly admitted that she had indeed read the comments and said: “I’m just gonna come clean with y’all”.
She revealed: “I was so freaking nervous”. When Jelly Roll invited her to perform with him, she was thrilled, but that excitement was overshadowed by her nerves. “I got out there and I was so nervous that I just held on for dear life. And that’s the bottom line.”
In a conversation with ET after her performance, Judd elaborated on her decision to accept Jelly Roll’s invitation. “I have to show up for people the way others did for me”, she explained. “My role now is to pay it forward because I’ve received so much generosity, and now it’s my turn to give back to artists like Jelly Roll.”
