Hero dog-lover rescues pups across Mexico in a pushcart

Meet Edgardo Perros, Mexico’s compassionate canine crusader, on a remarkable journey of love and hope. For the past six years, this 49-year-old dog lover, also known as the “Savior of Dogs”, has been on a mission to make a difference in the lives of homeless and suffering dogs he encounters while walking the entire perimeter of Mexico.

Edgardo pushes a trolley filled with dogs, providing them with the care and support they so desperately need. His mission began in Bucerias, a small town near Puerto Vallarta, and has taken him on a 14,000-kilometer odyssey across Mexico.

During his incredible journey, Edgardo has rescued and rehabilitated nearly 500 furry friends who were battling hunger, injury, and illness. He’s a true advocate for those who have no voice, giving these dogs a second chance at a better life.

Edgardo’s loyal companions, Chilletas, Blanco, and Negro, have been by his side since the beginning, serving as elder animals who guide and comfort the newer members of their eclectic pack. These dogs are not only nursed back to health but also receive vaccinations and are spayed or neutered to prepare them for adoption.

In the face of adversity, Edgardo’s determination and compassion shine through.

He camps outside with his canine companions and relies on the support of veterinarians, animal advocates, and donations to continue his mission.

As Edgardo approaches his goal distance, he plans to settle down with his three faithful dogs, where he hopes to continue making a difference in the lives of animals in need.

His dream is to change cultural attitudes in favor of animals and the environment, and he hopes that the younger generation will carry forward this mission of compassion.

Edgardo’s inspiring journey is a testament to the power of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place for our furry companions.
