Discovering inexplicable phenomena in our homes is rarely an enjoyable experience. Whether it’s an unexplained mark on the wall or a mysterious odor, the immediate concern is often whether it will worsen and lead to unexpected expenses for repairs.
One internet user recently shared her apprehension after noticing peculiar black dots appearing in her kitchen. The kitchen, being the hub of food preparation, is an area where control over every aspect is crucial. Finding unexplained marks in such a space can understandably cause alarm.
Seeking answers, the homeowner turned to the Facebook group “WeLoveMrsHinch” for insights. She described the situation, asking: “Does anyone have any idea what these points might be?” The mysterious black dots had first appeared on the kitchen tiles and later on top of the PC kept in the kitchen.
Fortunately, fellow Facebook users came to her aid with what might not have been the answers she hoped for. One commenter suggested: “Look over it and you will probably find a spider”, while another added: “It happens a lot this time of year, spiders pooing everywhere”.
According to information from the Pest Guidance website, spiders exhibit a peculiar bathroom habit. Instead of leaving solid droppings, their excrement is thick and liquid, resembling dark ink stains. These droppings, often found on walls and surfaces, manifest as splats or drips in shades of black, brown, white, or grey.
The website explains: “The color or type of faeces depends on the species, but in most cases, you can expect dark splats or drips. These droppings are the combination of food and other waste materials released from the spider’s body”.
In essence, the homeowner’s kitchen conundrum was likely the result of spiders engaging in a not-so-tidy bathroom routine.
